We Got Keys!

We finally got the keys to our new house today!!! I can not be more excited!

It has been a crazy week trying to organize the solicitors and estate agents to agree exchange and completion, but so worth while. The house is a three bedroom, two story, brick house off a quiet side road in the lovely village of Carshalton. Harry and I found the house in September and were so excited, but the sellers hadn't found a house yet. We waited patiently for them to find a place, but a few months soon turned into six months and now we finally got to move in!

Visiting the house today was surreal and I feel like it still hasn't hit me. There is a lot of work to come just to bring the house up to scratch and to put my stamp on it, but I can't wait. In honor of the house, I am going to do a design inspo for each of the rooms of the house, once a week for the next month- so keep an eye out!

Channeling Dolce & Gabana

I finally had a chance to wear my new skirt from Mango. Although London looks nice and sunny, the truth is- its still freezing here! I can't complain though, because at least the sun is out. I paired the skirt with a cosy cashmere sweater to ward off the cold. I added a gold leaf wreath headband to complete the look!

The Casa Del Mar Wedding Venue

Yay! We finally chose our wedding venue- and let me tell you- it was NOT an easy task. However, I do think I have picked the very best one. The decision was so difficult for me because we were stuck between two very unique venues, The Casa Del Mar and The Vibiana. I was determined to make my decision without having to hop a flight to LA, but flying out was the best decision I ever made.

I had been leaning toward The Vibiana because of the grandeur. Anyone who has seen the venue in photos must admit the grand entrance definitely packs a punch, but upon going to the actual venue I was a little disappointed. The location was less than stellar and definitely had an impact on the site. The room itself lacked a bit of an it factor for me, I'm not entirely sure what it was. I'm sure many people find the age of the building to be part of its charm, but for me I think paired with the brown, it was a bit blah. It could in part be due to the fact that the windows were all shut for my visit. The second and I think biggest downside to The Vibiana would be their recently made over bridal suite, which is a hideous hue of dark teal- NOT how I envisioned getting ready for the big day. I could see myself having trippy Alice in Wonderland themed panic attacks induced by the room color- it really is THAT bad.

Anyways, enough about the negatives, let's get to the positives of the CDM. Going straight to a meeting after getting off of the worst flight of your life, (thank you British Airways) is never an easy task, but pulling up to the outside of the hotel we were instantly greeted by several people ready to assist and put you at ease. The inside foyer of the CDM is dramatic and does not show up on google image search as much as it should. The inside exudes understated elegance and I instantly understand the meaning of California Chic. There is a luxurious bar and romantic draped booths, not to mention the room itself (see photos). I mean ... damn. There is a bridal suite and groom's room right next to the ballroom and they are both lovely and elegant, with mini sitting rooms. Gorgeous.

There are honestly too many pros to list in a blog post, staff (Liz is amazing), service, extras, etc) So if you are having the same dillemmas or are doubting the CDM as a wedding venue, I urge you to go check it out, because I went in there doubtful and totally changed my opinion... which is rare for me!

Spring Tablescape!

I thought I would share my Spring Tablescape with you guys today! I had so much fun setting the table, it turned out gorgeous. I had been lusting after the Williams Sonoma Damask Bunny plates since they came out last year or, but these are a slightly different version I found at Marshalls in the U.S.! I was shocked to see them there and obviously lunged after the display to quickly grab every item there (even though I knew they would have to fly across the Atlantic in my suitcase).

The tablecloth is a staple for every home that entertains- a cream damask Ralph Lauren with matching napkins. I don't keep real flowers in the house, because they bring in bugs (one of my many quirks), so anytime I can get to Michael's with a coupon I scoop up ample amounts of hydrangeas, just to pop a bit of color around the flat.

The GORG pearl glass eggs and square wreath were great finds at TK Maxx, which I adore for all of their seasonal home decor, I just popped on a ribbon bow and VOILA! By keeping the color palate muted and simple, I was left with a chic table perfect for dining with friends and family.

Affordable Office Wear

As we are 1 month out from getting our greedy hands on the keys to our new house, I have had to be... shall we say... more affordable? Its not like I have ever dropped major cash on clothing, as I love to find high end pieces at more affordable prices, but lately I have been highly conscious of the fact that all the money I save can be spent on, gold mirrored bedside tables, faux peonies, and gorgeous coving, so I have stopped myself from making quite a few clothing purchases. However, I am in actual, desperate need for office wear. So, it was only natural I went on a hunt for more affordable, high fashion office finds, which led me to the Mango sale. I can't wait for them to arrive AND hopefully, they give me wardrobe a much needed lift!Office Skirts
