Belated Birthday Blog

Harry and I are so lucky to share our birthday weekend, as our birthdays are only 6 days apart. Part of our Birthday celebration was our trip to Bordeaux, which as you know from my last post was a weekend of perfection. However, we did lots more the following weekend when we were at home in London.

Bordeaux Travel Guide

Harry and I recently skipped off for a long weekend in Bordeaux, as a little birthday treat for both of us. Bordeaux took me by surprise, it ticks all off all of my standard travel requirements- good weather, delicious food, and gorgeous buildings. Since we loved it so much, I thought I would do a mini travel guide below, but if you want to see more, I linked our video above!!

Vacation Dressing Under £40

As soon as I book vacation, the first thing I start to think about is vacation pieces. Soon a pair of sandals or a new sundress turns it an almost entirely new wardrobe to take on vacation. While, I am not against buying a whole suitcase worth of new clothes it can get pricey and vacation dressing should be just the opposite. So, here are my tips on luxury vacation dressing for less.

The Honeymoon Year: Bangkok Grand Palace

Today is our first day back from our first trip out of our "Honeymoon Year." If you haven't read my post about it, you can find it here. We had an amazing trip and I can't wait to share all the highlights with you here and on Youtube! (If I can figure it out) These photos are from our first day in Bangkok at the Grand Palace. It was one of the most spectacular places I have ever seen and I can only imagine how much painstaking detail went into every centimeter of the buildings. Truly incredible.

I Said Yes!

I got engaged in Rome last month! Harry planned a surprise vacation for us, but wouldn't reveal where we were going until we got to the airport. Rome is an incredibly romantic city, the way the light hits the ancient stone buildings and shines through the skyline. We spent the entire weekend strolling the streets, sight seeing around every corner, indulging in pastas and gelatos. Harry planned a celebration dinner at La Terreza, a GORGEOUS restaurant in the city. On the last day he took me to the Villa Borghese and got down on one knee! Now its time to start planning!

Budapest Review

So unfortunately since graduating and moving to London, I no longer have access to a camera, so its almost impossible to post outfits, which is a shame, because its my favorite. However, I have just been to Budapest and as this blog is also about traveling...

If you're looking for glamour and romance, Budapest is truly a hidden gem and I mean that in more ways than one! Aside from it not being an ultra popular tourist destination a la Saint Tropez or Miami, Budapest's romance is definitely on the inside. When walking around the town many buildings look plain on the outside, even run down, but once you step inside, the restaurants and shops are nothing short of gorgeous.
We stayed at the Corinthia hotel, which I didn't post a photo of simply because the photos don't do it justice. Amazing customer service, GORGEOUS room, and what a relaxing spa!

Our other favorite, must-see place was The Book Cafe. Nestled away in the top floor of a huge bookstore on the elegant Andrassy Ave, we would have never found this place if it wasn't for our concierge. The entire cafe is gilded in gold with baroque ceilings, Gatsby-esque chandeliers and piano music drifting in the air. Its pure unadulterated elegance.

Almond hot chocolate and Chocolate Gateau to die for.

As I have written a short essay on some of the hidden gems buried in this treasure town, I think its safe to say Budapest has a rare old school glamour, that I couldn't get enough of!

Vacation in Los Angeles: The Getty Villa

Hi!
I am finally back from my two week vacation in Los Angeles. It was so much fun, but too busy to post. So now that I have the time I will do a mini Los Angeles vacation series including my sister's Bat Mitzvah and my graduation!
These photos were taken at the Getty Villa (not to be confused with the Getty Center). The once home of oil mogul Paul Getty was commissioned by Getty himself to be modeled after the Villa de Papiri in Naples, in order to house his growing antiquities collection! To be quite honest we didn't even go into the museum, the grounds and gardens were so luscious we had plenty to amuse ourselves with! I would highly recommend taking a visit here and having a light lunch at the villa!
As there is always marine layer in Santa Monica (my home!) and Malibu I wore statement print pants in a more subdued color, a white tee and a white blazer. Just to jazz it up a bit I wore a rhinestone  necklace. I always wanted trousers like these, but was too scared, but hopefully I have pulled it off!?
P.S. Sorry for the audio guide in my hand we were taking a tour of the gardens!
xoxo
